Directions for 5 gallons of Hard Cider

Equipment:

  • 6 Gallon Carboy

  • 1 Drilled Rubber Stopper (#6 ½)

  •  1 Airlock

Ingredients:

  • 5 Gallons all natural cider

  • 5 Pounds Dextrose

  • 2 Packets C- brite

  • 5 Campden Tablets

  • 1 Packet Yeast (Montrachet)

Directions: Make sure that your carboy is clean and sanitized by using C-Brite, 2- .8oz packets of C-Brite for a 6 gallon carboy, let carboy air dry. Ad 1 pound of dextrose per gallon of cider into the carboy. Add the cider; leave about 4 inches at the top, no need to stir. Put an airlock (1/2 filled with water) with the rubber stopper on the opening of the carboy and let cider ferment. Once fermentation begins add 1 campden tablet per gallon of cider. 24 hours later add the yeast (1 pack per five gallons). Then let it set for at least 6 weeks to 11 months, the longer the better.
